The WBNUJS Act, 1999 (West Bengal Act IX of 1999) was passed by the West Bengal Legislature in July of 1999 and founded the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS). As a result of the University's notification under Section 2 Clause (f) of the UGC Act, 1956, the Bar Council of India awarded the institution permanent affiliation in July 2005.
