About Indian Air Force:

The Indian Air Force was founded in 1932 as a support force for the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom, with its first squadron entering service a year later. Once World War II, the prefix 'Royal' was introduced to the IAF, but it was removed after the Indian Republic was formed in 1950. From six RAF-trained officers and 19 Hawai Sepoys to the world's fourth-largest force, the IAF has grown to become the world's fourth-largest force. Air Force Day had been held at Palam for decades until 2005-06. Due to air traffic concerns, it was relocated to the Hindon Air Force facility near Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Two transport aircraft squadrons and a helicopter unit are stationed at the site. The subject for the event in 2020 was "untiring efforts and great sacrifices of its troops," whereas the theme for 2019 was "know your Air Force."

IAF Day Celebrations:

A parade of men and women officers takes place at the IAF's Hindon facility. It also includes a ceremony during which the Chief of Air Staff pins medals to the recipients' uniforms. The ceremony is typically attended by a large number of serving and former officers, as well as their families. Air Force Day is commemorated by a multitude of events held across the country at various stations, many of which feature IAF veterans from the area. Celebrations in several sections of the country were cancelled in 2020 owing to limitations imposed in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

IAF Vision and Motto:

The IAF's mission is to protect Indian airspace and engage in aerial combat during times of war. The Bhagavad Gita inspired its motto, 'Nabham Sparsham Deeptham,' which translates to 'Touch the Sky with Glory.' Apart from flying the flag in missions such as Operation Poomalai. The IAF has always come to the aid of its citizens during natural disasters, such as Operation Vijay and Operation Meghdoot.

The IAF currently operates seven combat aircraft types:

Dassault Rafale, MiG-29, HAL Tejas, MiG-21 Bison, Mirage-2000, SEPECAT Jaguar, and Sukhoi Su-30MKI. It is also served by helicopters such as the Boeing AH-64 Apache and the CH-47 Chinook, as well as transport aircraft such as the Ilyushin Il-76, the C-130J Super Hercules, and the Boeing C-17.

Concerning the Quiz Competition:

In light of this, on the occasion of the 86th Indian Air Force Day, the Society of Quiz is organising a Quiz Competition with the theme "Know your Forces.". The Indian Air Force not only protects Indian territory and national interests from all threats but also aids in natural disasters. As a result, the day is observed to honour and recognise our jawans' and the entire force's selfless efforts.
