Every year, Probationary Officers (PO) and Management Trainees (MT) are recruited through the Common Recruitment Process (CRP), commonly known as the IBPS PO exam. Initiated in 2011, the CRP is currently in its 13th iteration and is officially titled IBPS PO/MT CRP XIV 2024. The selection process comprises three phases: preliminary, mains, and interview, with candidates required to qualify each stage to progress further. The key steps of the IBPS PO Recruitment Process are outlined below:
IBPS's involvement in the selection process extends only until the provisional allotment to different banks is complete. Subsequently, the respective banks are responsible for informing qualified candidates about their joining dates and procedures.
Public Sector Banking has emerged as a prestigious career option, offering attractive salary packages, perks, job security, rapid career advancement, and a good work-life balance. The Personnel Selection Services (PSS) established by the Government of India in 1975 for the recruitment of probationary officers and clerks to all public-sector banks were later transformed into the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) in 1984, in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India's mandate.
Here is a list of banks participating in this year's IBPS PO recruitment process:
The IBPS PO exam (CRP XIII) follows an online written examination format comprising two parts: Tier 1 or IBPS Preliminary Exam and Tier 2 or IBPS Mains Exam. A face-to-face interview process follows the examination.
The IBPS PO preliminary examination is conducted online for 1 hour and 20 minutes per section. It comprises three sections with a total of 100 questions and a maximum score of 100 marks. Negative marking applies, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer. Candidates must clear the cutoff in all three sections to qualify for the IBPS PO Main exam. The section-wise details are provided below:

2 | Numerical Ability | 35 | 35 | 20 minutes |
3 | Reasoning Ability | 35 | 35 | 20 minutes |

To progress to the Online Main Examination, candidates must meet the minimum cut-off marks set by IBPS in each of the three tests. Based on category-wise requirements, IBPS will determine the appropriate number of candidates to be shortlisted for the Online Main Examination.
The IBPS PO Main exam is administered online and comprises five (4+1) sections, totalling 200+25 marks, with a combined duration of 180+30 minutes. In the mains exam, IBPS includes a descriptive paper to assess candidates for the Probationary Officer position. Candidates must attempt the sections in the prescribed order and within the allocated time frame specified during the exam. Successful completion of both the preliminary and mains examinations is required for eligibility to proceed to the interview stage.
