The total number of applications for NEET UG 2024 has surpassed 25 lakh applicants for the first time ever. The date for the NEET UG application correction window is expected to be announced in the second week of March. EET UG Eligibility 2024

Prospective candidates aiming to pursue a career in the medical domain must review the NEET eligibility criteria to qualify for the medical entrance examination. The NEET UG eligibility for 2024 is determined by various factors such as nationality, age restrictions, and educational qualifications.

Nationality

Candidates eligible to apply for the NEET exam must hold the following nationalities

  • Indian Nationals
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)

Age Limit

Candidates appearing for NEET must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2023. The NMC has abolished the upper age limit of 25 years for General category candidates and 30 years for reserved category candidates.

Minimum qualification

Candidates must have completed their Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognized institute and Board. Those currently appearing for their Class 12 boards or equivalent in 2024 are also eligible to apply for NEET UG 2024. Candidates who have fulfilled their Class 12 or equivalent requirements from an open school are also considered eligible.

Subjects which are mandatory

Candidates must pass their Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Candidates who have included Biology as an additional subject in their Class 12 or equivalent are also eligible.

NEET UG Admit Card 2024 

The NEET admit card, issued by the National Testing Agency via the official website, becomes available once the candidate has successfully submitted the application form. As a crucial document for NEET UG 2024, the admit card is mandatory for entry into the examination hall. Candidates failing to carry it will be denied entry. The NEET UG 2024 admit card is typically released approximately a week before the exam date and is accessible online on the NTA's official website. Upon receipt, candidates must promptly verify the details and rectify any inaccuracies before the exam.

NEET UG Syllabus 2024

The NEET syllabus encompasses three subjects: physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Candidates must possess a solid understanding of these subjects from class 10 through class 12, as the exam will include questions from these areas. The NTA determines the NEET UG syllabus, and candidates are encouraged to carefully review it before commencing their preparation.

NEET UG 2024 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for NEET UG 2024 has been anticipated to be released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), although it has not yet been officially announced. The NTA is expected to maintain the same exam pattern as previous years. Per the NEET exam pattern, the test will comprise 200 multiple-choice objective-type questions from various subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (further divided into Botany and Zoology).

In 2021, significant changes were made to the NEET exam pattern, notably an increase in the total duration of the exam by 20 minutes. Each question carries four marks according to the NEET UG marking scheme, with one mark deducted for each incorrect response. The NEET exam for 2024 will be graded out of 720 marks.

  • SC/ST/OBC: 40 per cent

NEET UG Results 2024 

The NEET UG 2024 result will become available after the successful completion of the medical exam and will be published on the official website. Additionally, the NTA will disclose the names of the toppers, their respective scores, and the category-wise cutoff marks for NEET UG 2024 alongside the results. NEET UG Counselling 2024

Following the conclusion of the NEET exam 2024, candidates who meet the NEET UG cutoff 2024 criteria will qualify for participation in the NEET UG counselling 2024. NEET UG Counselling 2024 will comprise four rounds, namely Round 1, 2, 3, and Stray Vacancy. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will oversee the release of the NEET UG counselling schedule and manage the counselling process for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while State Authorities will administer the counselling process for the remaining 85% state quota seats.

To initiate the NEET counselling process, candidates must first register online, followed by the completion and locking of their seat selections. Subsequently, the results of seat allocation will be announced. Candidates opting to secure admission in the designated institute must accept their seats and report accordingly. If candidates prefer not to accept the allocated seat, they have the option to opt for a seat upgrade and participate in the subsequent round of NEET UG counselling.
