NMAT, or NMAT by GMAC, is a national-level entrance exam for MBA admissions at NMIMS University and other reputed business schools in India and abroad. Previously conducted by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, GMAC now oversees the NMAT exam. NMAT offers convenience to test-takers, allowing them to choose their exam date and preferred venue during the test window. NMAT shares similarities with GMAT, enabling candidates to select their preferred exam date, time, and location based on seat availability at the chosen test centre. The NMAT exam is conducted annually during a designated test window, and the NMAT by GMAC score evaluates candidates in three sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning.

The subsequent phase of the NMAT selection process involves the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds, which the participating institutes organize.
In some cases, the participating institutes may opt to conduct a Writing Ability Test (WAT) or a Case Discussion (CD) instead of the traditional GD round. The final admission decision is made based on a candidate's combined performance in both the NMAT online test and the GD-PI round.
