(The application fee/processing fee for admission is Rs.250/- in Mumbai and Rs.150/- in other parts of the country)
There is no entrance exam or interview to get into a junior college. The only thing that matters is how well a candidate did on the Class X exam (SSC). After the SSC results are announced, the organising authority will display the first merit. Candidates whose names will be on the list will have to get into the college given to them.
Those who don't get seats in the first round must use their options for the following rounds.
The official SESD (School Education & Sports Department) portal will have all the latest information about the release of the merit list, cut-off list, seat allocation, etc. So, candidates are encouraged to check the official website often.

Merit List & Cut-off List:
SESD will display the merit and cut-off lists based on how well each candidate did on the SSC exam. There is a different cut-off list for each school. After each round, a cut-off list for each college is posted on the official site on the given dates.
FCFS Policy
SESD has made First Come, First Serve (FCFS) the rule for FYJC. Students who can't get seats in any of the rounds can use this policy to apply. FCFS was made so that these kinds of applicants could get in.
