List of Best government exams after 12th

SSC CHSL

Every year, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts an exam for selecting candidates for various government posts in multiple ministries. It is known as the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam. It is one of the most popular and most opted exams. This exam is conducted for the following posts:

  • Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
  • Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA)
  • Data Entry Operator (DEO)
  • Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ (DEO Grade A)
Eligibility Criteria for SSC CHSL 
  • Nationality: Candidates must be nationals of India, Nepal, Bhutan
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between the age group of 18 years to 27 years.
  • Qualifications: Candidates must be a 12th pass or equivalent from a recognised board of a university.

Exam Format

This exam is conducted with the help of 3 papers. 

Paper 1 - Computer-based test to test General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language.

Paper 2 - Interpretative Paper based on writing skills

Paper 3 - Skill test to test Data Entry Speed Test & Computer Proficiency Test. It is compulsory for candidates who have applied for the DEO and DEO (CAG) posts.

Railway Recruitment Board Exams (RRB)

Every year the RRB issues a list of vacancies based on zones and regions, and to fill up these positions, it mainly conducts two significant exams. The RRB conducts the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) exam for recruiting class 12 students into the Indian Railways. The railway board also conducts other competitive exams to fill various posts in the Railway department.

Eligibility Criteria:
Nationality
  • The candidate must be a citizen of India, Nepal, and Bhutan.
  • In case of migration to India from certain countries like Zambia, Taiwan, etc., candidates must have a relevant migration document confirming their Indian Citizenship approved by the Government of India.
Age Limit

The age limit for the RRB ALP eligibility is as follows:

  • Minimum Age- 18 years
  • Maximum Age- 30 years

There is certain age relaxation for candidates of the reserved category

Educational requirement

The primary educational requirement for the RRB ALP post is given below:

  • Candidates should have passed matriculation and completed the course Act Apprenticeship Industrial Training Institute approved by NCVT or SCVT in the respective trade.
  • Those who have a diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Automobile Engineering recognised by the AICTE are also eligible for the exam.
Exam format

This exam is conducted with the help of 3 papers. 

Paper 1 - Computer-based test in the form of MCQs to test General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language.

Paper 2 - Computer-based test in the form of MCQs 

Paper 3 - Candidates are given five test batteries.

Railway Group D (RRB/RRC Group D)

The RRB Group D recruitment is done by the Railway Recruitment Cells (RRC). They are recruited from different departments and different regions within the Railways. It is done to fulfil the vacancies of the following posts.

  • Junior Clerk-cum-Typist
  • Accounts Clerk-cum-Typist
  • Junior Time Keeper
  • Trains Clerk
  • Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk

Eligibility:

The exam is conducted in 3 stages:

  1. RRB Group D (CBT) Computer Based Test
  2. RRB Group D (PET) Physical Efficiency Test
  3. RRB Group D (DV) Document Verification

National Defence Academy

The Union Public Service Commission releases NDA Notification to recruit eligible candidates who have passed their class 12th boards exam under the 10+2 pattern of school education. Through the NDA exam, candidates get admission in the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA & Indian Naval Academy Course.

Eligibility:

The eligibility criteria of NDA comprise four main aspects that are mandatory for applicants to fulfil. The four main elements of NDA eligibility are:

1. NDA Age Limit, Marital Status & Gender

Minimum Age- 16 years

Maximum Age- 19 years

Marital Status: Unmarried

Gender: Only males

2. NDA Citizenship/Nationality

A citizen of India, or

A subject of Nepal, or

A matter of Bhutan, or

A Tibetan refugee permanently settled in India from and before January 1, 1962.

Army - 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA & for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy - 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

4. NDA Physical/ Medical Qualification

Applicants must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination. 

Indian Army TES (Technical Entry Scheme) Written Examination

Technical Entry Scheme (10+2) is one of the opportunities for students aspiring to join the Indian Army as an officer in the Engineering Core. After completing the course, You will be a lieutenant in the Indian Army.

Eligibility:

The eligibility criteria for admission are as follows:

Age limit:

Minimum Age- 16.5 years

Maximum Age- 19.5 years

Nationality

A citizen of India, or

A subject of Nepal, or

A matter of Bhutan, or

A Tibetan refugee permanently settled in India from and before January 1, 1962.

Eligibility:
1. AA - ARTIFICER APPRENTICE

•Age:- Not less than 17 years of age and not more than 20 years of age on the enrollment date. 

•Nationality:- Applicant should be a resident Indian. The Gorkhas, subjects of Nepal, are also eligible to apply for AA Recruitment

•Marital Status:- Unmarried

•Minimum Educational Qualification:- Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects. 

2. SSR - SENIOR SECONDARY RECRUIT

Age:- Not more than 17 years of age and not more than 21 years of age on the enrollment date. 

Relaxation of Age:- Against sports quota entry, the upper age relaxation for outstanding sportspeople who have played at the International / National / State level may be considered for up to 12 months.

Nationality:- Applicant should be a resident Indian. The Gorkhas, subjects of Nepal, are also eligible for applying for SSR recruitment.

Marital Status:- Unmarried

Minimum Educational Qualification- Minimum class 12 (intermediate) in science stream with compulsory subjects of Physics and Mathematics and Optional subjects of Chemistry or Biology or Computers.

Indian Coast Guards Entry Scheme: 

Indian Coast Guard

The Indian Coast guard is a part of the Indian Army. They invite recruits after the 12th for posting in various locations in India. 

Eligibility:
Qualification: 
  • Indian Coast Guard Navik GD required candidates who have 10+2 passed with Maths and Physics with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates and outstanding sports personnel of National level).
Medical requirement:
  • Height -157 cms
  • Chest -Should be well proportioned. Minimum expansion 5 cms.
  • Weight- Proportionate to height and age +/- 10 per cent acceptable.
  • Hearing- Normal
  • Visual Standard-616 (Better Eye) and 6/9 (Worse Eye). Glasses are not eligible. 
  • Tattoo- Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any body part.
Selection Process:
1 - Written exam

The written examination will be of objective type, which will generally cover subjects Quantitative Aptitude, Mathematics, General Sciences, General English, General Awareness (Current Affairs & General Knowledge) and Reasoning (Verbal & Non-Verbal)

2- Physical test

Physical Fitness Test (PFT). PFT will be conducted for all those who qualify for the written tests. All candidates are advised to have a sports rig (Shoe, T-shirt, Trousers etc.). The PFT will consist of:-

  • 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes.
  • 20 Squat ups (Uthak Baithak).
  • 10 Push up. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.
3 - Selection List

The select list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all the tests depending upon the available vacancies.
